Why Make a Donation?

Money is used for our nation's top two priorities with this disease at the local level.

Awareness and screening are CDC's top two priorities when it comes to colon cancer and those are the areas the we focus our attention on. We feel strongly in our work to educate in a positive manner around preventive measures because we believe that "Get Your Rear in Gear" is more than a message around colon cancer.

  • 75% of the net funds raised at Get Your Rear in Gear races stay in the local community to ensure the funds are administered through the best existing local services
  • Remaining funds support national programing, survivor and caregiver initiatives, etc.
  • You donate and know that the screening and treatment services to the under-served and uninsured are addressed

Where does the money go?

 75% of the net proceeds from each race stay in the local community for education, prevention and screening programs.


The Colon Cancer Coalition gives money back into each Get Your Rear in Gear community in the form of community grants. The money raised at local events is spent on education, prevention, screening and support programs in each community. Local event committees have jurisdiction deciding how money will be spent in their communities.
